Facebook can now convert your panoramic pics into fully immersive 360-degree photos. Pretty much any smartphone can shoot a panorama, so it's a fun way to make a little interactive experience. My selfies will never be the same.
- The 360-degree photo feature is launching today, says Mark Zuckerberg, so you should see the feature soon if not already. You'll be able to upload existing 360-degree photos or turn your panoramas into interactive pics that can be viewed by tilting your phone like a window into an immersive space, or just use old-fashioned point-and-drag on desktop. Can't wait to post my brunch in full 360. [Mark Zuckerberg]
- In keeping pace with Lyft, Uber will soon let you book rides in advance. The feature is currently being tested in Seattle and will only be available to business travelers to start, but-eventually-they intend for you to be able to book a car as much as 30 days in advance. [Uber via The Verge]
- Hackers are claiming to have 32 million Twitter logins that they're trying to sell on ~dark web~, but Twitter is confident that their systems haven't been breached. Chances are it's old data that they're trying to sell, perhaps culled from the recent Myspace and LinkedIn breaches, but you should turn on two-factor authentication anyway . [TechCrunch]
- You'll soon be able to use an NVIDIA Shield as a media server with Plex. Plex-who somehow manage to develop a version of their software for every OS and gadget in existence for the good of us all-is bringing their software to NVIDIA's powerful set-top box. It supports 4K video at 60fps, so it's no slouch. [Plex]
